5.0 out of 5 stars Good News for sore toes, December 2, 2007

During my college years I worked at a high quality shoe store specializing in leather shoes for children. Each shoe was of the highest quality and as you might guess, very uncomfortable and stiff. We were trained to use a number of devices designed to soften either the heel or the critical areas around the ball of the foot and toes. It seems like everyone in my family has unusually wide feet. My twin daughters measure 6 1/2 EEEEE! Yes, if given the opportunity, they could indeed walk on water or at least paddle like a duck. My father in law has large bunions on both his feet. My wife is always complaining about her little toes hurting her during her exercise workouts. I bought a beautiful pair of golf shoes online but the little toe area was simply too snug to enable me to wear the shoes.
A few months ago I remembered the bunion stretcher I was trained to use at the shoe store. I realized that I could do everyone a favor by buying one for my families use. The only real place to... Read more

I saw a shoe repair guy use one of these years ago and had always figured it was some antique tool that had belonged to his grandfather or something... Nope! It's real, and it's available, and if you have a bunion, or a pinkie toe that sticks out a little (like me) and makes one of your feet almost impossible to fit, especially in heavy work boots, then don't wait. Bite the bullet and buy this thing. I have tried every method possible for quite a few years, and nothing has worked until now. I have 4 pairs of work boots that I've acquired over the past 7 or so years, all of them worn just enough to make them unreturnable, and just enough for me to realize that I couldn't "just wear them until they break in". Now, since I got this device, I basically have 4 new pairs of boots for the price of the tool.

This isn't going to help you if you simply have the wrong size shoe. But if it's a particular spot on your foot, and especially if you have an established history of that... Read more

I bought this because my wife has lots of bunions. (Curse those high heels! (But they sure look nice. :) ))

This device really worked well. It is able to get most places where she needs to expand the shoe.

My "complaints" are this. We also have some of the regular shoe and boot expanders with the inserts. Many times they work better. This item will not work on boots at all (jaws not deep enough) and it can't get deep into the toe area like a shoe expander can. For the price of this item, you can buy both a high heel expander and a boot expander, which do about everything this will. But we bought it and will not send it back, because it is very useful. With hindsite I would have tried the tranditional shoe and boot expanders with the inserts first, and then only if I could not get what she needed would I buy these.

Also they make a slight ring mark on the outside of the shoe that diminishes, but does not completely go away.

On the other hand,... Read more
